My Gurl B.

August 13, 2009

I have this friend; we’ll call her B. I called her today from the beach because it had been a few days, and I was pretty glad I did, because after we’d chatted about non-essential things for a few minutes she said, “you know, I almost called you today. Instead I just went into my office and shut the door, and let it rain a little.”

B’s been having a crappy time of it lately at work. She’s got a crap supervisor, and a crap job, and today her crap supervisor sent her a crappy email. I can say all of this, and very loudly, because it’s not my crap job, and sometimes a crap job is better than no job, you know? (Are you getting tired of the word “crap” yet? I probably have a few more in me.)

After that conversation, I really felt the need to give my pal B a little shout-out. Some props for my peep. Some encouragment. So, B, here it is.

B, no matter what your crap supervisor tells you, you are not the moron, SHE IS.

B, no matter what your crap supervisor tells you, one person cannot physically, mentally, and emotionally do the job of two people for any sustained period of time without suffering ill effects. You are freaking amazing for having done it for as long as you have.

B, you are STRONG. You are SMART. You are the ENERGIZER BUNNY, but you know, regardless of that commercial, even those batteries wear down with time.

That said, B, you CAN keep on keeping on as long as you are determined to do so. Take care of everything you’re able to and let the rest go. Hold on to the promise given you in Philippians 4:13 and keep your eyes on your prize. Listen for the Lord’s prompting.

Now. This is for you–slightly off-topic, but the gist is there. I’ve got your back, babe.
