Cooking

I love to cook. I find myself wishing sometimes that life were simpler so I would have more time to be in the kitchen…Autumn’s tumbling schedule of four days/week, two-plus hours each afternoon has really put a crimp in things the last couple of years, although I wouldn’t change it for anything.

If there’s one thing I could change, it would be the clean up. I can’t stand loading and unloading the dishwasher. (I feel kind of the same way about laundry…) But there’s something about a kitchen, when the meal is prepped and in the oven or on the stovetop, and all of the dirty dishes are put away, the countertops glistening cleanly, that just feels right. It’s as it should be.

I hope you all enjoy my compilation of recipes, at any rate. Most are taken from family, friends, and various cookbooks and other sources and I’ve just tinkered with them until I’ve gotten them exactly like I want them. Many have a story behind them, and if so I’ve included that with the recipe. If you have a recipe you’d like to share, please email me at hintonrae@msn.com and tell me your story. I love adding to the collection.

Hi Lori. Thank you for expressing my thoughts in those first 2 paragraphs. I think/feel them numerous times a day. I am going to bed now and will walk into my glistening kitchen first thing tomorrow morning to get my coffee and then prepare to make a mess soon after. 🙂

    Lori,
I understand how crazy life can be with a sports schedule. My daughter dances every day of the week. The minimum is 90 minutes, and some days are 4 hours long for her. It IS hard to cook under those circumstances. I’m listening to my dishwasher sing its song as I get some work done tonight for blogging. I too feel the same way about the kitchen!

Hey, Shirley–Something happened to those pages when I changed the page format–they sort of disappeared from all of my “tabbed” pages, unfortunately. They’re still there, so if you know which recipe you want, like “walnut chess pie,” or “lori white’s chicken enchiladas” or something like that, you can just search it and it should show up. I can always email the link to you, though, much more easily, so just let me know which one you’re looking for and I’ll be happy to do so.

I am going to play with the formatting pretty soon and try to get them back up here somehow, along with some new ones. 😉
